Tips for recognising potential spam
- Always look at the Senders address - are they someone you know? Even if they are someone you know but the message looks odd, write back to them to confirm that indeed they sent the original message
- Always check the Reply To address in the message. Is it different from the Senders address? If so, it is almost certain to be a spam message.
- We cannot stress enough that you should never ever click on a web link in an email or open any attachment in a message of which you are suspicious. Even if the sender is legitimate but you have some doubt about the message and its contents, please write back to the sender clarifying that they were the sender and if the message is indeed legitimate.
- DO NOT disclose your password, even if the email looks legitimate. No one should ever ask you for your password via email.
