How to propose a new IT project
First determine how big your project is. It may only be very small (5-50 hours) or large (80+ hours). After you have determined the size follow the steps below:
At any stage in this process you are more then welcome to contact the technical services team. We are happy to guide you though this process as we have plenty of experience with it.
Small project
- Download the small project template form (doc 33kb)
- Fill out the relevant parts (please ensure that you fill our your name as the requestor and your contact phone and email address)
- Submit your small project form via email to web@education.monash.edu.au. We will contact you soon after you have submitted your project to clarify your needs and give you a guide as to the time it might take to complete your request.
Large project
- Download the Vision and Scope template (doc 87kb) provided on the project website.
- Quickly read through this document and the instructions on how to fill out the vision and scope document (we are happy to help complete this document).
- At this stage submit the document via email to: web@education.monash.edu.au. We will contact you soon after receiving your document to confirm that we have received it and quickly discuss your needs. It is unlikely that we will be able to give you any accurate estimates of how long it will take to complete your project at this stage.
- We will then work with you to identify the tasks required to complete your project and work towards estimating the time and resources that will need to be committed to your project.
- Your project will become part of the Faculty's Portfolio of projects and be ranked for priority (for allocation of faculty resources). If faculty resources are not available in time to complete your project according to your requirements we will work with you to identify suitable alternatives both within the Monash Environment and outside.
