Ethics submission procedures for staff

All research projects involving humans require ethical approval. Research Projects cannot begin until you receive a written letter of approval from the University's Standing Committee on Ethics in Research Involving Humans (SCERH).

Faculty Process:

All staff applications must be approved by the Associate Dean Research before being forwarded to SCERH for approval.

The staff member should:

  • Hand in the original copy of their ethics application (signed by themselves and any other investigators named in the application) and supporting documentation to the Research Office (room 209, Clayton) by the Faculty deadline.
  • Send the electronic copy of their application directly to scerh@adm.monash.edu.au

The Research Office will then:

  1. Liaise with the Associate Dean Research to obtain their signature.
  2. Take three copies of the application and hand deliver to the Ethics Committee.

The Faculty submission deadlines have been set to allow the Associate Dean Research time to read the applications and for the Research Office to make the necessary copies. If you submit your application after the specified Faculty deadlines, we can not guarantee that it will be approved and forwarded for your preferred committee meeting.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the Research Office on 990 52896.
