About the course

This course is offered through the Elwyn Morey Centre and focuses on the inclusion of children with a diverse range of needs in early childhood programs. It is designed for qualified and unqualified staff and students as well as others associated with early childhood education and care.

An increasing number of children with developmental delay, disabilities and other special needs are participating in community based early childhood programs.

  • Communicating with children
  • Guiding behaviour and planning for competence
  • Working as a team member with teachers and therapists involved with the child
  • Planning, setting up and adapting the environment to support children’s learning
  • Managing group times
  • Observing and planning for individual children
  • Planning for small groups
  • The importance of the social environment
  • An overview of development delay and the range of children’s needs in early childhood programs.
