Seven hours per day over three days.
Recognition:
The Certificate is recognised by the Faculty of Education to the value of 12 credit points at postgraduate level.
Prerequisites:
There are no prerequisites for this course, however the course is most relevant for people working with students with special needs.

About the course
This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to enable them to write and implement an Individual Educational Plan for students with special needs.
Topics include:
- Eligibility criteria for the Victorian Disabilities and Impairments Program
- Aims, responsibilities and membership of the program support group
- The impact of specific disabilities and impairments on learning
- Understanding the student; Describing entry skill levels
- Describing entry skill levels
- Writing long, intermediate and short term goals
- Prioritising what needs to be taught
- Assessment and evaluation of student progress
- Evaluation of an individual learning plan
- Implementation of an individual educational plan
- Teaching and learning strategies
- Identifying learning styles
- Behaviour management
- Developing behaviour management plans
- Connecting students to school.
