Monash Education Research Community (MERC) Conference

Conference 2009 - Go Boldly: Act Locally, Think Globally

On behalf of MERC we warmly invite you to participate in our annual conferece.

When: Friday 3 July 2009 as part of the Faculty Winter School.
Where: Education Building (6) Ground Floor, Clayton Campus.

Introduction

Registration for attending MERC conference and Winter School is through the Winter School program. Contact: Michael.Enticott@education.monash.edu.au by 19 June 2009

The MERC conference aims to provide opportunities for:

  • Research students (Honours, Masters and PhD) to present their work in progress in a supportive atmosphere,
  • Staff and research students in Faculty of Education to know more about research carried out across different campuses of the Faculty,
  • Staff and Full Time/ Part Time research students and peers to meet and share in academic conversations.

We invite you to present a paper or poster and contribute to the research community.

Paper and poster presentations will be nominated by prospective presenters and should address the conference theme and its strands:

  1. Local/global educational contexts
  2. Local/global education in services and institutions
  3. Local/global in professional practice
  4. Local/global systems and policies in education
  5. Local/global diversities in theoretical references and methodologies

Abstracts for paper presentations and posters should be a maximum of 200 words and must be submitted by Friday 5 June 2009.

What to do if you want to present a paper or poster

If you would like to present a paper or poster at the conference follow these simple steps.

  1. Download the paper abstract proposal form (doc, 49KB) or the poster abstract proposal form (doc, 59KB)
  2. Fill it out using your word processor
  3. Email your completed form as an attachment to merc@education.monash.edu.au

What to do if you want to attend the conference only (and not present a paper or poster)

If you do not want to present a paper or poster but would like to attend the conference, register per the instructions in the information pack on Winter School that will be sent to you by the Faculty (being sent out to all students by the end of May).

If you are not a student in the faculty, or do not receive your Winter School information, email Michael Enticott to register.

Conference lunch

The Faculty and MERC cater for a student-supervisor lunch on the day of the conference. Please indicate if you will be attending this lunch when you register for Winter School.

Conference invited speaker and graduate panel

The conference will have an invited speaker and a graduate panel - more details will follow shortly.
