Psychology, Counselling, Inclusive Education and Giftedness - Research in the Faculty of Education
Members of this group are part of the Institute of Human Development and Counselling, and research in Australian and International contexts. Our Research Strength is enriched by collaborative interactions between clinical, counselling, educational and developmental psychologists and professional educators from early childhood and across the lifespan.
Areas of research include:
- counselling psychology, including diversity sensitive psychotherapy; spirituality and meaning; clinician training, development and self-care; relationship and group issues; projective testing
- educational and developmental psychology, including personality, cognition, learning, adjustment, stress, anxiety, depression, coping, autism spectrum disorders, behaviour and cognitive change, motivation, self-efficacy, career choice and development, positive psychological constructs, exceptionality, test construction
- inclusive education, which begins with consideration of teacher professional learning, school reform, policy and issues related to individual needs across a number of social and academic learning domains

- gifted education, focusing on the gifted individual within an individual differences paradigm, but also considering a range of educational provisions for educating gifted and talented students, such as select entry accreditation learning programs, select entry high schools, ability grouping, differentiated curriculum and programs that develop specific talents
